I started Skipper Screens after spending 5 years in the HVAC industry and 6 years running my own marine detailing business, so I’m no stranger to working in hot spaces.

During my time in the marine industry, I kept coming across the same problem: brutally hot boat cabins, scorching interiors and towels being thrown over thousands of dollars’ worth of screens, controls and equipment just to protect them from the sun.

I knew there had to be a better solution.

So, I started developing a product specifically designed to tackle the problem at its source. Skipper Screens are designed to block harmful UV and infrared (IR) rays while providing additional insulation through our unique 6-layer material.

I wanted to create something that did more than simply block the sun. I wanted a product that could help reduce the heat and provide better protection for the valuable equipment and interiors inside.

What started as a problem I experienced firsthand has grown into something much bigger.

We’re proud to be one of Australia’s first marine-specific sun shade companies, creating products specifically for boats and the conditions they face. We’ve also taken the same approach into the automotive space, developing car sun shades designed to help keep vehicles cooler and protect their interiors from the harsh Australian sun.

We’re committed to keeping production local, maintaining high-quality standards and, most importantly, providing the level of service I’d expect myself.

This isn’t just a product I’ve put together and sold online. It’s something I developed from years of working around boats, seeing the problem firsthand and wanting to create a better solution.
